I worked as part of the Yeast Replicative Life Span (RLS) team at the Kaeberlein Lab from July 2017 to June 2018. As part of the team I dissect yeast cells away from one another and help keep track of replication in order to ascertain how certain conditions affect the lifespan of a yeast cell. The artifact to the right is one of the microscopes I use to dissect yeast cells. The plate on the stage is from one of the more difficult experiments to dissect, due to manipulation of the agar in order to see how the yeast lifespan changes. Through my internship at the lab I have learned basics of lab practice and have grown accustomed to using a microscope and a needle to micromanipulate cells. I have also learned how much careful attention an experiment needs for its data to be consistently recorded.
