chem 155HONORS GENERAL CHEMISTRY (II)
CHEM 155 is the second class in the Honors General Chemistry series. It started out with acid/base equilibria and continued into, essentially, quantum mechanics. The material in the quantum part of the class was almost entirely new for me and the class went at twice the speed of CHEM 145. The class was incredibly difficult for me, especially since I find quantum mechanics confusing. Professor Ginger's teaching allowed me to start to understand and even enjoy theoretical chemistry. The attached artifact is my second midterm. I spent many hours studying for it and am proud of the score I received.

PILGRIMAGES AND IDLE TRAVELS: A MEMOIR AND TRAVEL WRITING STUDIO
This honors class was the first class in which I analyzed the writing styles of published authors and dissected the components of their writing. By mimicking published authors, I learned to better understand how well-written material sounds. When I first joined the class I only wrote longwinded sentences in third person. After the quarter, I find writing in first-person much easier. My writing has become far less rigid and unnatural. Beyond specific changes to my writing style, I also now practice writing a lot more. My notebook contains lists of possible writing exercises and work done using them. Most, if not all, of the prompts require first-person POV and reflection. My artifact is my final paper concerning the shift from my childhood restrictions to find my footing in a world with far fewer safety nets.
