In September of 2018, I visited my boyfriend in San Diego for a week. This was my first trip to San Diego and my first domestic independent flight in the United States. Funnily enough, I have more experience with flying internationally than I do domestically, and have grown accustomed to all the procedures and airports I generally pass through on the way to India. Even though I have flown alone internationally, the initial flight for this trip was somehow more nerve wracking. The terminal was tiny, as was the plane, and the flight seemed oddly short (~3 hours). I saw a lot during this first trip ever to San Diego and gradually became more comfortable with the Spanish-style architecture, broad roads, and yellow landscape. It was an incredibly enjoyable trip and I am excited to go again.

My favorite part of the trip was probably San Diego Zoo. I had never been there before and I was able to see elephants! Which are my favorite. We were also able to see pandas but, considering that they are too lazy to really do ANYTHING, I'm not entirely sure the zoo would have been worth it if that is all we went to see. I also had a lot of fun feeding birds! There were a few that ate from the cup and then, deciding I would work well as a seating structure, hopped their way to my head and analyzed the view.
I also really enjoyed our trip to Universal Studios. The last time I had been to Universal Studios I had been 9, and not particularly appreciative of the special effects beyond getting to see things explode. This time, I was able to visit Harry Potter land, a.k.a. my childhood dreams of being magical, and also actually appreciate the behind-the-scenes information that Universal told us about.
Friendly bird!
